THE HOLY SPIRIT AND YOUR HEALTH

S
Romans 8:11
At creation, God formed Man from the dust, He breathed the breath of life into his nostrils and Man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). Man’s body became animated through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has creative power which can affect the human body and alter its state (Romans 8:11). Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and He indwells it. Our bodies are His house (1 Corinthians 6:19). For God to function in this physical world, He needs the human body. As a Christian, always remember that your body is not yours; you are only a steward or a caretaker of it. God showed Ezekiel the prophet that, no matter how broken the human body is, the Holy Spirit has the power to restore it (Ezekiel 37). God raised Christ from the dead and restored Him back to life. Therefore, healing you and restoring you to perfect health is not a big deal for Him. We need to be conscious of the fact that our body carries the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit does not just want to empower your body and help you to maintain health; He also wants to flow through you to provide healing for others (Mark 16: 17-19). Exercise faith in the fact that He indwells you and His power in you is active. Peter’s shadow produced healing in people’s bodies (Acts 5: 14-15). God worked unusual miracles through Paul so that handkerchiefs and aprons which had touched his body brought deliverance to people (Acts 19: 11-12). As a carrier of God’s power, even though this power flows through you to bring healing to others, it is meant to first work in your own body. The Holy Spirit is a Person and He has emotions. He is not a talisman. He should be the most important Person in your life. Your primary responsibility as a believer is to have a relationship with Him even though you cannot see Him. He should be more real to you than the people you see. Cultivate a relationship with Him by conversing with Him regularly. Your relationship with Him impacts on your health. What you do with your body affects your relationship with God. Be conscious of His presence at all times if you want to see His power active in your life (Ephesians 4:32). Always obeying the Holy Spirit will save your life (Exodus 23: 20-23).
